Hot hot hot & rain these days. haha Easy 30 mile spin ride from P-hill with Josh Sunday. The corn is getting up there. Wow! I rode the 5.9 Madone. New tires & handlebar. Still a killer bike. New 2010 old stock I built up in 2020. Ride # 2 was a fun late night 10 miler on the e-bike in turbo mode. hehe TT Monday spin in Clayton up to West Milton & back. Always working on position. Have a month before the next race. Silver Bullet is an awesome bike. Happy to found that new old stock last year. Beautiful evening to ride. Yeah!

Hoosier Hill Friday

87 mile ride to the highest point in Indiana aka Hoosier Hill with The Beast & Joshium. It was hot. haha Nice being back on the SL6 Madone. Good workout! Mooooo!

Fatty Thursday

I hit my old stomping grounds in West Carrollton before my gig yesterday. It was fun hitting the hills. Short & steep. For the most part the plat hasn't changed in 40 years. Wow! I revisited old friends houses & creeks. Fun stuff!

Fatty MoMBA Wednesday

Back on my new Farley at MoMBA tonight with Big Tim & Joshium. Trails were pretty dry minus a few sections. I'm almost recovered from Alabama. The legs felt good on the climbs. It was nice having gears that worked. hehe Good times!

Blue Streak TT

 After riding in the morning & on the warm up, I was still feeling the 12 hour with the heat. I raced the fatty. Didn't expect much honestly, but Once Tebow started me off, the legs felt good. 21.3 mph avg is darn good on a fat bike. Good stuff!

TT Spin Monday

 

Easy 22 miler spin on the TT bike. Legs are good, but not feeling that great. Could be the 105 degree heat  in Saturday's race. I may have to skip tomorrow's race. We will tomorrow after a good night's sleep. Beautiful evening for a ride tho.

12 Hour Race Video

12 Hours of Iron Maiden

What a road trip down south near Birmingham. I missed this race last year with my crash. Howard & Josh raced it doing a great job. We arrived on July 4th late afternoon. Fun stop at Buc-ee's. We did a recon lap. I rode the course in February on the way to Florida. Still good to check out conditions. After a few miles, skies grew dark. The wind picked up. The rain started. It was light at first but then whoosh. Torrential downpour. Next came the lightning. It was too close for comfort. The trail was like water water rafting. We all made it back, but it was scary. 1.5" of rain fell in a short time. Race day was muggy even at 9 am. The trails were wet. Josh was 1st, Howard 2nd, & I 3rd for the 3 man relay. Josh did a great first lap with traffic & slick corners. Howard looked good on his lap then I rolled out. 

Sunshine with a heat index of 105 degrees. No wind. haha One mile single track climb at the start let you know if your legs were good or not. Nice roller coaster downhill after that for a bit followed by flowy ups n downs the rest of the lap. 11.3 miles with 770 ft of climbing. I had to race my old Farley hardtail due to my new Farley having a bad cassette or chainring. Broke 2 chains last week. Weird. My new parts were lost in shipping on July 3rd. Argggg. My old Farley has shifting issues with internal routing. Stress on the cable inside the frame makes shifting late and not precise. I made the most of it with pretty fast lap times considering. I did lose a chain and stopped twice on Lap 2. I had to make an executive decision letting Howard & Josh do 4 laps. I went last for lap 3 in the dark rolling the dice for if the chain would hold. I got it done. I was only a few minutes slower, but conservative on the shifting. All smiles crossing the line putting us in 5th Place. Proud of Josh & Howard. Pretty sure the 4 teams in front of us were all in their 20's. haha Us old guys did well plus 2 of us were on fat bikes. Man that final lap was so muggy and hot even though it was dark. Crazy. Glad to get in a mtb race. Not many around here this Summer. The ones that are around are the same courses. Hard to get motivated after a decade of the same thing. hehe Good times!

Mad Cow Ramble TT 6A & 6B

 

Awesome weather with sunshine & upper 80's.  Ahhhh Summer! Not much wind. I did 2x 4 miles TT's. Both started the same on Alcony - Conover going South.  I started well on TT # 1. Halfway in my saddle seemed a little low on a grinder to Elm St.. Power numbers were still pretty good tho at 314 avg watts. 26.7 mph avg. I raised the saddle just a bit and attacked TT # 2. South on Alcony then a right on Troy Urbana to the school.  Much better at 27.9 mph avg. Pretty happy with those efforts being sick last week too. The guys rode great too. Good times!

TT Tuesday

TT Spin on Silver Bullet coming up with routes for Wednesday's MCR TT. Going to do 2 short TT's to mix it up. Great power builder. Beautiful afternoon. I'm still a bit congested with this sinus thing, but we will see what's in the tank for the TT. No flats on the ride tho which is good. lol Mooooo!

Weekend Wrap Up

Oh I've been riding every other day while fighting a nasty sinus infection. Friday was a hot one on the road with Josh in P-Hill. Good 2 hours in. Sunday Josh & I had fun in Fort Wayne at Franke Park. 3+ hours of dry single track while everything here was closed. I got out in Cow Country tonight. 3.5 miles in I hit a rock then my tire went flat. Storms popped up while changing the tube. I got back to my truck just in time. 6 mile ride. lol I'm still not 100%, so not a big day of riding. Be back tomorrow.

Farm Country Spin

 

Another evening spin ride. Temps were nice after the rain rolled through. Rode the 5.9 Madone again. I'm still congested but feeling better. Keeping the rides around a hour. Working all day in the heat, a hour ride is just fine. haha

Cow Country Tuesday

Easy spin sweating out some sinus crap on my 5.9 Madone. 91 degrees when I started at 8:45 haha Gonna be a few more days until I feel better, but had to ride. Every time I ride in CC I get nostalgic. Many old memories come out. Good stuff!

Weekend Wrap Up

 Summer arrived Saturday. Temps in mid 90's with heat index of 103 degrees. Big Tim & I rode in New Castle at Westwood Park. It was hot. haha At leat the trails were open. 2 hours in the heat. Tim was flying on his E-MTB. Zooom! Sunday Josh & I headed to DTE for some fun. The fun ended after the first hour when my chain broke into pieces, argggg. Oh well. At least I got a hour in. That place is so fun. Can't wait to go back. Josh his ride in then picked me up.

Mad Cow Ramble TT # 5

Last minute TT. I had planned for next week, but mid 90's all next week. haha Sunny skies & 85 tonight. Wind 10 mph SW. 9.75 mile TT. First 2 miles was tailwind on rough old chip n seal. Elm Tree South was fun. A few grinds & 90 degree s turns. The new adjustments were killer. 3.5+ miles on Troy Urbana to the finish was a character builder. 26.3 mph avg. I hopped on the fat bike for TT # 2. 19.9 mph avg. Yeah! The guys rode great. Awesome night out there! Mooooo!

Cow Country Wednesday

Another long day at work. Had to ride tho. Stole another one! 🤘I parked at Bethel High School like the old days. Rolled up to WG & back then did laps in the lot for a 20 miler until the storm front unleashed. Loaded up & changed. It started pouring buckets as I drove away. Haha

Long day of work, but a bike ride makes everything better. hehe I parked in Union heading North East near Laura. I put in some efforts. I took the 6.9 SSL Madone out again. Fun stuff. Another good one in Farm Country. Back tomorrow for more fun!

Skinny Tire Monday

 

Fun 20 miler NE of Casstown. The corn is shooting up with the rain & humidity. I took out my 6.9 SSL Madone. It's been awhile. I bought the frame in 2020 new old stock. I added 105 11 speed with vision wheels. This bike is awesome. Although the frame is 18 years old, it's still light, stiff, & responsive. After the ride, I hopped on the TT bike for a bit. Fun stuff!

Weekend Wrap Up

Rain and more rain. haha I still got some riding in tho. Brookville road riding fun on the Madone SL6 Friday night after the rain. Muggy, but did a few KOM intervals. Saturday I headed to Liberty for some fatty gravel. 2 hours of riding. I finished up just as the rain returned. I did the Zwift TT Club race Saturday night. 5.8 miles. 2nd place in my category / 7th place overall. Short Father's Day ride on my TT bike. Yep, I got rained on. LOL Not a bad week considering the weather.
