Pebble Pounder Gravel Race - Fatty Style!

What a day! I had no plans to race. Josh didn't either. Sean signed up, but was ready to bail. Then Josh said he'd go if I did. It was on. lol After a late gig night, I had no plans to race 100%. I stayed with Josh for 30 miles. I had a feeling we were in first & 2nd MTB. We hit the grass service road then I hit the gas averaging 294 watts. The Bridle Trail was rockier than before as was the first service road 5. I had 17 psi, so the hands were hurting a bit. Back on pavement then the final gravel climb which is one of my fav's. I hammered to the finish. 1st Place MTB/ 28th Overall. Josh came in 2nd MTB / 35th Overall out of 93. The Beast crushed it with 1st Place 50 - 59 / 4th Overall. What a day! What a year!

Roadie Monday

Catching up after Wednesday last week. I only rode Saturday for a few hours. Rest week. Much needed. I worked on bike positions on all my bikes prepping for November when it's time to train for 2026. I got in a nice 27 miler from Brookville after a long day on the Madone SL6. Beautiful weather with 67 degrees. Good steady tempo ride at 19.2 avg. I did a long 3 mile interval in the crosswind. Very pleased with the effort. The new adjustments to the Madone feel much better. Getting in a few road rides before temps fall. Lots of fat biking this Fall / Winter. Moohahaha

Blue Streak TT - Fatty Style

Closed out the Blue Streak TT series tonight. Barely made it but I got it done. Quick warm up then Tebow sent me off. I flatted on Sunday's ride. Big Tim added new sealant, but my rear tire was leaking air during the TT.  I kept hammering to the line even though it was getting low. I felt great at 21.1 mph avg. People don't get why I raced the fatty. It's fun first of all. lol I've done so many Blue Streak's there's really nothing more to achieve. I won it twice with several top 5-10 placings for many years. I'll race the TT bike for April & May next year, but back to the fatty by June - Oct. Mad Cow TT's, Strawberry Fest TT, & maybe Senior Olympics next year are plenty on the TT Bike. The other reason is it's tough racing on pavement with those tires. It paid off in all the gravel wins this years. Yeah! The Beast 29.7 mph avg tonight. Wow! I miss the days we'd battle for seconds. Sean has worked so hard these last 5 years. Impressive! What a year!

Maple River Gravel Chiller Video

Maple River Gravel Chiller - Fatty Style

Awesome day in Maple Rapids, Michigan. Temps 54 at race start. I made the front group early. First hill split the group and I tried to bridge back up. No luck. I settled into a small group. 4 of us traded pulls the rest of the way. We picked up a 2 more. The wind wasn't epic but we could feel it on the harvested farm fields. Good tailwind stretches coming back. I tried my best in the sprint. I won fat bike /  21st overall. Well run event.  What a year!

RTH Race Video

RTH Gravel Race - Victory!

Great day yesterday in Chelsea, Michigan at Rode to Hell Gravel Race. I won the 44 miler Fat Bike / 30th Place Overall. The legs were great from the start. I made the front group after the neutral rollout, but I had to let them go after 4.5 miles. We were flying at 25-28 mph. I rode solo for a mile or so when a group of 7 or 8 came up. Pace was 21-23 mph which was perfect. It's a lot of work on a fat bike. haha The hills weren't too bad, but I felt great. 1,800 ft. of climbing. We caught more racers from that first group. By the end it was large. Dodging potholes became a bit scary at times. I made sure I had a line of sight. I put in some good pulls near the end. Props to the 2 guys flying all day. Impressive. 19.6 mph avg. We lost some speed in the neutral roll out, but that's ok. Smokehouse BBQ was tasty at the finish. I hit DTE for a hour post race. What a day!
