Race # 2 of the day. After 2 hard days of snow grooming, it was time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The snow hasn't really packed hard, so the corners were slick. Hats off to Big Tim, Travis, The Beast, Joshium, Ben & Tebow for coming out. It was Tim Bowman's 70th B-Day. Legend! Conditions were 20 degrees with a West wind at 10 mph. I ran my rigid Farley. 27.5 x 3.8 Hodags with 6 psi for warm up lap # 1. I ran 7 psi for the race. Big Tim & Josh brought multiple bikes to test. Snow is never the same composition which opens different tires & psi for an edge. After the warm up, it was clear it was risk vs reward on every corner. haha
Big Tim counted down 5,4,3,2,1. I was first into the single track. It was awesome and a bit dicey at the same time. I unclip'd keeping my foot on the pedal around each corner just in case. We only used the north part of River's Edge. That short section felt like a mile. LOL The Jungle was a lot of fun, You could open up a lot of speed on the straightaway's. The Adventure Loop was wide open fast finishing off the 1.45 mile lap. 7 laps = 10.33 miles.
Lap 1 was my fastest at 8:06 10.8 mph. From there my laps were 8:19,8:21,8:18,8:36,8:33 & 8:35. The corners were slicker each lap. Lap 5 I had some issues but no crashes. Finished the race in 59:20 at 10.4 mph avg. I felt great out there. Travis came in 2nd a few mins later. Ben took 3rd place. Awesome! Josh was right behind Travis in 3rd but flatted on Lap 3 or 4. He had to go back to his Van for another fatty. He chased hard catching Big Tim & Sean who were cruising finishing with them in a 4th place tie. Tebow finished off the night smiling. Legend! What a blast. Great job guys!
Venga!
