Fatty Hayes Thursday

Busy day, but got in 2 hours at Hayes. Thanks to Ron for clearing several trees. Still a few down, but it was nice riding there. It reopened last Fall. Love that place. Glad I got tonight in though. Trails are starting to overgrow. Not many volunteers, so who knows if the trails will be cut back for Summer. Spring is ahead of schedule for sure.

Cow Country Wednesday

25 mile recovery ride in Cow Country. The legs weren't too bad after yesterday's race. Back on the 5.9 Madone. Man, what a bike considering it's 16 years old. Well, I bought new in 2020. 105 11 speed rocks! Rudy in the wind was epic as usual. I imagined Keith with me as I accelerated up to Studebaker. Miss those days. Pulled in just in time as the rain was rolling in. Stole another one!

MCR John Bryan TT - Fatty Style

Awesome night for a single track TT.  2 x 6.5 mile laps. The trails were killer with everyone riding strongly. Big Tim was flying. I felt pretty darn good out there. I just missed 14 mph avg. I pushed the fatty as fast as it could go. hehe Great seeing Dan & Garry from Champion City. Good stuff.  Proud of everyone. Mooooo!

Fatty Farmersville Sunday

 

Back at it after a well earned rest day. Chilly Sunday with a howling wind. Temps mid 50's. Tebow, T.Bolt, Buz, & I had a good one. 5 laps. 2.5 hours with 1,800 ft. of climbing. I attacked the short gravel section off the main rd. I beat my old KOM by 5 seconds. 431 avg watts. Yeah! Great ride fellas!

Wow what a week of weather. The wind was still there. hehe Fun 26 miler in Cow Country. It never gets old on those roads. Man, I shake my head in disbelief it's 2026 yet I'm still out there. haha Fun stuff!

Another killer day. 2 hours at JB with Joshium. Trails were fast. The fatty was feeling fast. My skills are coming around. Long way until we race in July. Lots of work to do though. Fun stuff!

Recovery Wednesday

 First commute of the year followed by an easy 20 mile recovery ride. The legs were a bit tired, but as expected doing 2 TT's last night. The wind was still howling. lol

Blue Streak TT - VINDICATION!

 Hard to believe it's 2026. It's been many years now of racing the Blue Streak TT. I've won it twice with many top placings over the last 15+ years. I had a goal of working a bit more on the TT bike. New cockpit over the Winter. We did a lot of Zwift TT's from December - early March. Today was the test. 80 degrees with a howling SW wind. I got a good warm up in with Josh & T.Bolt. Tebow counted me off and whamo. WIND! The first mile to the gate was tough.  I picked up speed after the gate heading to Gate # 2. From there Northbound was all tailwind. I held back just a bit for the run in. Good tempo heading East along SR 235. I took a deep breath then hammered the last 2 miles to the finish. I gave it my all to the line. 4th Place. I'm very pleased. Who knows if I'll do the TT bike rest of the year there, but I proved this old Egg can still ride. haha Sean crushed it winning at 29,6 mph. Incredible. Joshium & Howard did a great job too. Josh & I did Fat Bikes for TT # 2. 19.1 avg for me with Josh 17.6 mph. That hurt even more, haha Fun stuff. Great job Speed Feet & all racers!

Awesome day. Ride # 1 in Indiana at Westwood Park with Joshium & Big Tim. 2 laps / 2 hours. Love that place. Fun hills with the back half my fav. Ride # 2 with Buz & Joshium in Farmersville. 4.5 hours in the saddle. Killer weather! Another good week of training.

Fatty HW Friday

Stole one at Hueston Woods. I looked at the radar and gambled hehe 20 miles of single track fun. PR'd Campground Reverse. The trails were medium speed. Not muddy, but not super dry. I love this time of year. No leaves on the trees, so you can ride a bit faster. Great tempo. My off road skills are coming back. I pulled back in the lot with the rain starting. Oh yeah! Fun stuff!

Mad Cow Ramble TT # 3

Sunshine & mid 60's yesterday. 7.3 mile TT. Mostly uphill with tailwind. 2 crosswind sections. Great turnout.Yeah! Busy day. I was late with only a short warm up. I sent everyone off then hit it. The legs were dead. Still 28.5 avg in first half mile. Right on to Green. Crosswind with 2 short hills. I was not feeling it, but kept on going. I was held up by a car turning North on to Alcony which scrubbed my speed. I slowly got going dialing up the speed. My saddle was low. Argggg. Normally around 30-31 mph on those sections, but could only manage 28-29 mph. Still a good effort. I raised my saddle back to where it usually is for the cool down. 26.5 avg. Bonus TT was 2.3 miles. Straight up SR 589 from the school. Right on Loy Rd. finishing at the top of the hill at Lost Creek Rd. I raced the fatty. I was warmed up for this one. haha I felt great.  21.5 mph avg. 327 avg watts. YEAH! Great job everyone!

Brookville Monday

 A bit warmer today with Sunshine & temps around 59 degrees. Wind was W NW at 16 mph. I rolled from Brookville taking the rec trail NE. I worked my way over to Lewisburg via old Big Tim Tuesday roads on Swamp Creek and Verona Roads. More headwind West on Swishers Mill followed by the Mini Rollers of Prices Creek. Loved those BTT rides back in the day with Big Tim, Andy, DeeWayne, Smoothy, & more. Fun tailwind on Pyrmont Rd. East. The road has triple chip n seal. It used to be so fast back in the day. I had a good speed going though. I reached the end of Pyrmont then it was KOM interval time. 2 segments. .75 of a mile & .85 of a mile on # 2. Rough road surface on Utz. 27.7 avg with a little uphill at the end. Segment # 2 on School House Rd, was a KOM defense. I was banking on more of a West wind, but it switched North. I still had a tail wind, but could feel cross wind at times. The segment rolled up from the start then stair steps up a few times to the end. That effort hurt right after Utz Rd. hehe 27 avg setting new KOM. Very pleased with those efforts in the temps. Fun 31.5 miler completing a good 5 day block. The Emonda ALR is getting broken in nicely. Rest day tomorrow then Mad Cow TT # 3 Wednesday. Mooooo!

Arctic Cow Country Easter

 

Brrrrrrr. I debated taking a rest day, but I had that itch to ride. Sunshine in the evening with temps 48 dropping to 45 by the time I finished at sunset. 30 miles with a few steady seated intervals. I stayed warm, but man what a difference from yesterday. hehe Good training week in the books.

25 miler in Cow Country. Another killer day. Jay's Climb, Cowhill, WG, Gearhart, Hammerhead Hill, & Pisgah hill. Good stuff! I then hit the TT bike for a spin. Silver Bullet is feeling good. Another fun day in the saddle!
