Early morning with a 7:00 race start. Storms were in the forecast, so I decided Thursday to do the 15 mile TT. I had planned on the 50 miler. The 50 mile course would be on SR 72 three times. Safety is more important. I needed a longer than 10 mile TT, so the 15 mile was perfect. Plus I'm doing Blue Streak TT's on the fat bike. Cloudy 59 degrees with South wind picking up 10-12 mph with higher gusts. Those are chip n seal roads. Slow rolling with false flats and a 300 ft of climbing. It was mass start chaos. You have 6,12, & 24 hour racers too. I waited 5 minutes then started. I had to pass many riders. I had to slow at times with cars being stuck behind racers. First 5.5 miles was all headwind It was early and my body wasn't firing 100%. 2.5 miles West to SR 72. I was settling in. I had tailwind for the last 7 miles. The road surface wasn't fast rolling plus it was slightly uphill. I gained speed nonetheless with the tailwind. 1st place in the TT with the fastest lap out of everyone. It was later beaten by a recumbent, but conditions were much faster later after the storms. 3rd race in 7 days. Thanks to Joe L. for the pics and hanging out. Great job Larry for putting the race on. Good stuff!
